Pub quiz app
A pub quiz app that runs the night for you
QuizCast puts the questions on a TV and lets players answer from their own phones, scoring as it goes. That takes care of the two things that actually make hosting hard work — being heard over a busy room, and marking forty answer sheets between rounds.
Purchasing is temporarily switched off
QuizCast is still in active development and testing, so we have paused all subscriptions and one-off purchases while we finish ironing out the last bugs. We expect to open sign-ups back up in mid-October. The free tier is unaffected — you can carry on hosting games in the meantime.
How a quiz night runs
Build the quiz
Write the questions yourself, generate a round with AI from a topic and a difficulty, or pick a ready-made pack. Everything is stored against your account, so a quiz you build once can be run again at another venue.
Cast it to the screen
Open the TV app on a Fire TV stick or any browser on the screen, and pair it with a code. The questions, the timer and the leaderboard all live on the big screen where the room can see them.
Players answer from their phones
Everyone joins with a room code — no account, no download. Answers land instantly and the scoring happens as you go, so there is nothing to mark at the end of a round.
What you actually need
Less than most people expect. The host dashboard runs in any browser, so a laptop or a tablet is enough to run the night from. The screen can be an Amazon Fire TV device with the QuizCast app on it, a smart TV with a browser, or a laptop plugged into the TV over HDMI. Players need nothing but the phone already in their pocket.
For the host
- Any browser, on any laptop or tablet
- Or the Android app, if you prefer to host from a phone
- A quiz — written by you, generated by AI, or pre-made
For the room
- A screen — Fire TV, smart TV, or a laptop on HDMI
- Players use their own phones, no download
- No account needed to join a game
More than multiple choice
A night made only of standard rounds gets flat by round four. Alongside the usual format there are game modes built for a room watching a screen together:
Which modes are available depends on your tier — the pricing page lists exactly what each one unlocks.
It reads the questions out loud
An AI host voice reads each question, which in a full pub is the difference between a night that works and one where the back tables give up. Every paid tier includes a monthly allowance of voice generation; the Studio tier adds premium voices and the ability to clone one, so the quiz can be read in a voice the regulars recognise.
Who it suits
At home
Family and friends round the TV. Up to fifteen players on Home Host, with the standard game modes and a live leaderboard.
In a pub
A regular quiz night for up to thirty players, premium TV themes, and the bigger game modes unlocked. This is the tier most venues land on.
Professionally
Unlimited players, every game mode, white-label TV under your own logo, and email capture with CSV export if the night is also lead generation.
Common questions
Do players need to download an app?
No. Players join with a room code and answer from their own phone — there is no account to create and nothing to install. There is a QuizCast app on Android if a regular player prefers it, but it is never a requirement for joining a night.
What do I need to put the quiz on a TV?
Either the QuizCast app on an Amazon Fire TV device, or any screen with a browser on it — a smart TV, or a laptop plugged into the TV over HDMI. The TV app runs in a browser, so nothing needs installing if you already have a way to get a web page onto the screen.
How many players can join?
Eight on the free tier, fifteen on Home Host, thirty on Venue Pro, and unlimited on Studio. Players are counted per game, not per month.
Do I have to write the questions myself?
Only if you want to. You can write your own, generate a quiz with AI from a topic and a difficulty, or use the ready-made packs. There are also free printable rounds on this site you can read aloud without signing up for anything.
Does it read the questions out loud?
Yes — an AI host voice reads them, which is the part that matters most in a busy room. Every paid tier includes a monthly allowance of voice generation, and Studio adds premium voices and voice cloning.
Can I run it under my own branding?
On the Studio tier the TV display is fully white-label: your own logo, no QuizCast branding anywhere on screen.
Is there a free version?
Yes, and it does not ask for a card. The free tier covers two game sessions a month with up to eight players and three quizzes of your own — enough to run a real night and decide whether it suits you.
Try it on a real night
The free tier does not ask for a card, so the honest way to judge it is to run a night with it. If you want to read first, the guide to hosting a pub quiz covers the format, the full user guide walks through the app itself, and there are free quiz rounds you can use however you like.
