What is QuizCast?

QuizCast is a real-time multiplayer quiz platform designed for group play in pubs, offices, homes, and events. It has three parts that work together to create an interactive trivia experience.

The Three Apps

QuizCast is a system of three applications working in sync.

1. TV App (QuizCastTV)

The main screen display for questions and leaderboards. Runs in any browser on a Smart TV, laptop, or tablet. It is the "engine" of the game.

2. Mobile App

The player controller. Used by the host to start games and by players to submit answers on iOS & Android.

3. Dashboard

The web-based studio where hosts create, edit, and manage all their quiz content and game packs.

How a Game Works: The Full Flow

  1. 1

    Host Creates a Quiz

Using the web dashboard, the host creates a quiz pack, either manually or using the AI generator.

  2. 2

    Host Starts a Lobby

The host opens the mobile app, selects a pack, and starts a lobby. The TV app displays the generated 4-digit join code.

  3. 3

    Players Join

Players use their mobile app to enter the 4-digit code. Their names appear on the TV lobby screen.

  4. 4

    Host Starts the Game

The host starts the game from their phone. The TV screen transitions to the rules or the first question.

  5. 5

    Question Loop

The TV displays questions and timers while players answer on their phones. This continues until all questions are asked.

  6. 6

    Game Ends

A final podium is displayed on the TV. The host can then reset to the lobby to play again.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do players join the game?

Open the QuizCast mobile app, tap "Join Game," and enter the 4-digit code shown on the TV. Or scan the QR code displayed on the TV screen.

Can I play without a TV?

Yes, but it's designed for a TV display. The TV shows the questions and leaderboard. Players only see their answer options on their phones, not the question text.

How many players can join?

There's no hard limit. The TV leaderboard shows up to 8 players in the sidebar during gameplay, but all players are tracked.

What happens if a player joins late?

They can join any time while the lobby is open, or even mid-game. They'll start with 0 points and catch up from the current question.

Can I use my own questions?

Yes. In the dashboard, create a new quiz pack and type your own questions and answers manually. You can also use AI generation from a topic.

How do I switch the voice?

On the host remote screen (after pressing START), tap the voice button to cycle between Standard (Google), Pro (ElevenLabs), and Cloned (your voice).

Why isn't the narrator reading questions?

On web browsers, audio requires a user interaction first. The TV shows an "Unlock Audio" button — tap OK/PRESS on the TV remote or keyboard to unlock it.

How do I pause the game?

On your phone during an active question, tap the Pause button in the remote controls at the top of the screen.

What is Force Start?

If "Show Rules" is enabled, the game waits for all players to confirm they've read the rules. "Force Start" skips this wait and starts the quiz immediately.

How do I reset scores and play again?

After the game ends, the host can tap "Play Again" or "Reset to Lobby" to return to the lobby screen with scores cleared.

What is the Fastest Finger Bonus?

An optional +0.5 point awarded to the first player who answers correctly on each question. Toggle it on/off in the host remote settings.

How is a tie broken?

If players are tied at the end, the game can trigger a Sudden Death round — one final question where the fastest correct answer wins.
